Prof. Alexander Kuhn from the French National Center for Scientific Research and the graduate students from ERCN held the communication symposium on “How to do research” on August 15th. This symposium was chaired by Prof. Qiuye Li.
At first, Prof. Alexander Kuhn Shared his experience of study and work. He believes that interest and adventure are the driving forces of scientific research, and that if the results of all experiments are expected, it will make scientific research very boring. He suggested that every students should set scientific research goals. In the process of gradually advancing towards the goal, they will encounter various difficulties, so the way forward must be winding. If more interesting and valuable work is found, a new frontier can be opened up, and the relevant research objectives need to be adjusted accordingly. Students had in-depth discussions with professor Alexander Kuhn on how to choose his own specialty, how to quickly enter the project for a new postgraduate, how to deal with experimental bottlenecks, how to prepare for studying abroad, and how to improve oral English. Finally, Prof. Alexander Kuhn encourages student to actively exchange and visit abroad, broaden their horizon, communicate, share and help each other in the international environment, and improve themselves comprehensively.
Through this symposium, all of the graduate students have expressed their great benefit, and at the same time, they are more confident in planning personal development and scientific research work.
