Prof. Shuxin Ouyang was invited by Engineering Research Center for Nanomaterials (ERCN) and gave an academic presentation in the conference room 417 of ERCN on 6th January. The title of his presentation was “Efficient photothermal catalysis: materials and mechanism”. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Qiuye Li, the vice dean of ERCN.
Firstly, prof. Ouyang introduced the background of photothermal catalysis, the traditional thermal catalysis Sabatier reaction was realized by photothermal catalytic method, and 7 orders of magnitude was achieved. Then he described the use of SPR, LSPR effect to design Ru@FL-LDH and achieve efficient photothermal CO2 methanation , In2O3-x and CoN&C@Co for CO2 photothermal catalytic CO production, CuOx/Al2O3 photocatalytic water gas conversion reaction and other successful cases. Finally, he explained the differences between different catalytic methods and mechanisms such as photocatalysis, plasma photocatalysis, photothermal catalysis and photo-thermal synergistic catalysis. He also proposed the prospect of the application of photothermal synthesis and activation technology in the field of rectification of photothermal crude oil and photothermal laser ignition.
After the Prof. Ouyang’s report, we have a deep understanding in the field of efficient photothermal catalysis .
